Pike since Copley Place in the early 1980s A new development would add 575,000 square feet in two new towers above the Massachusetts Turnpike where the Interstate intersects with Boylston Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Back Bay.
That is according to detailed plans that developer Samuels & Associates has filed with the Boston Planning & Development Agency. One tower would stretch to 237 feet and would contain offices.
The other would run to 154 feet along Newbury Street and including both residences and hotel rooms. The filing precipitates months of public and official review, so things could definitely change. But if the plans advance, Samuels & Associates’ project would be the first project built with air rights over the Turnpike since Copley Place in the early 1980s.
