In response to the Coronavirus pandemic we are taking steps to protect our employees and clients. All real estate closings must be held in our Milton and Hingham offices until further notice. Clients should avoid visiting our offices unless they have an appointment. If you have to deliver documents we have a mail slot at each office location and you may use overnight or regular mail to deliver us documents. All visitors must sanitize or wash hands prior to entry. Realtors and Loan officers need not attend closings unless in-person signatures are required. You must be in person to have your signature witnessed or notarized. We will have latex gloves available to staff and clients. You can keep or dispose of any pens given to you at closing. We are fully equipped to work remotely if any employees are ill due to our advanced cloud based software and phone system. We have electronic signature and recording software. Due to certain state, federal and local orders we may encounter delays in normal service times. We rely on title examiners who work in the registries and changes to registry policies and hours may affect turnaround times. We have noticed staffing reductions at registries already, and it may impact timely e-recording of transactions. City and Town tax collectors already strained by high lien certificate request volume from a spike in refinances may be further delayed by staffing policies or shortages due to illness. Lastly, in times like these we are reminded of the importance of estate planning and healthcare documents. Having a Healthcare Proxy and Power of Attorney in place allows for someone else to make your healthcare and financial decisions and actions when you may be unable. We are glad to work with you to expedite these documents and other estate planning documents. Lastly, please note that wire fraud scams are rampant at this time while people are worried and distracted by the pandemic. Do not wire any money without speaking to our office. I have no doubt we will get through this difficult period and will come out stronger. The world is not going to end and we will be back to business as usual. Take care of yourselves.
