NYC, Northern Virginia, and Dallas appear to be pulling away from the pack, including Boston Dallas, Northern Virginia, and New York City appear to be the favorites to land Amazon’s second headquarters as the e-commerce hegemon nears a decision on the site before the end of 2018.
That is at least according to a report over the weekend in the Wall Street Journal, which cited “people familiar with the matter.” The three locales noted above are apparently in the most active negotiations still with Amazon.
Boston is technically still one of the 20 finalists to host the headquarters, which would mean 50,000 new jobs and $5 billion in capital spending from Amazon. But it does not appear that Boston is among the top contenders (anymore) among those 20 finalists. C’est la vie—it might be for the best. There is a new twist, though. The same Wall Street Journal report also notes that Amazon is considering siting smaller operations in finalist cities…
